Celebrating National Cooperative Month and National Pork Month

October is a month to celebrate two important parts of Iowa agriculture: National Cooperative Month and National Pork Month.

Celebrating Our Cooperative

National Cooperative Month recognizes the important role cooperatives play in Iowa communities. Nearly one in two Iowans is a member of a cooperative, and Iowa cooperatives employ more than 13,000 people statewide while generating more than $75 million in property taxes for Iowa communities.

At Two Rivers Cooperative, our member-owners are at the heart of our cooperative. We are locally owned and democratically governed, with an elected board of directors making long-term decisions on behalf of our members. Our cooperative is guided by the seven Cooperative Principles, including democratic member control and concern for community.

We are proud to serve our member-owners and the communities where they live and work.

Celebrating Iowa Pork

October is also National Pork Month, a time to recognize the farmers and thousands of Iowans who help make pork production such an important part of our state’s economy.

According to the Iowa Pork Producers Association, approximately 120,000 Iowans work in jobs connected to pork production, including farming, animal nutrition and health, transportation, equipment manufacturing, meat processing, food safety and retail.

We are proud to celebrate the many Two Rivers member-owners involved in pork production and the important role they play in Iowa agriculture.

This October, Two Rivers Cooperative celebrates our member-owners, Iowa’s cooperative tradition and the farmers and families who help make Iowa agriculture strong.

Happy National Cooperative Month and National Pork Month!
